The Power of Awareness: Imagination and the Law of Attraction

Have you heard of Neville Goddard? He is revered in spaces discussing personal development and spiritual growth. To this day, his teachings inspire and resonate with seekers of truth. Known for his book, โ€˜The Power of Awareness.โ€™ The book is seen as a source of profound wisdom that can transform the lives of those who dare to live in the present moment.

Being in the present moment allows you to tap into your creative power- your thoughts and emotions. Leading to personal growth and fulfillment.

This blog post will discuss key concepts mentioned in โ€œThe Power of Awareness.โ€ We will discuss the power of words. Weโ€™ll also discuss how you can be present and live in the state of your desired outcome. So, get ready, weโ€™re discussing overcoming limiting beliefs and exploring the ways that you can apply this information to your daily life.

Consciousness is the ability to be aware of oneself and oneโ€™s surroundings. I know that I am me, and you know that you are you. Consciousness plays a major role in our reality. In โ€œThe Power of Awarenessโ€ Neville Goddard emphasizes how the things you experience in your outer world reflect the state of your inner world. You can transform your reality when you are conscious of your beliefs, assumptions, and attitudes.

I’ve written an ebook that goes into depth of the Law of Correspondence as well as the other universal laws. If you’re interested in learning more about how our outer world is a reflection of our inner world then you may very well benefit from downloading manifestation IS faith!

Neville Goddard’s entire teaching stems around thoughts being creative forces that shape the reality we experience. The strongest beliefs that we hold about ourselves, as well as the beliefs we hold about society are seeds that manifest in our physical reality. When youโ€™re consciously aware of your thoughts, your mental patterns begin to attract your desired outcomes.

The above mentioned freebie ‘manifestation IS faith‘ is perfect for those of you who grew up in the Christian faith and were told that manifestation is a sin. Spoiler: it’s actually a requirement. Is this the first time you’ve heard that before? If so, go ahead and download your free copy today!

Like all of us, Neville Goddard compiled information from diverse sources. He studied mystical teachings, philosophical texts, and he had his personal experiences. One teacher he had was named Abdullah. He was an Ethiopian rabbi known for his deep spiritual wisdom and teachings. Abdullah helped mold the mind of Goddard. Abdullah was able to deposit concepts into Neville that transcend traditional religious boundaries. He emphasized the power of consciousness, imagination, and faith in manifesting. With Abdullahโ€™s guidance, Neville Goddard gained insight that profoundly influenced his teachings and impacted countless lives. You canย read more about Abdullah here.

Neville Goodard states that awareness precedes manifestation. For a desired outcome to materialize one must first be aware of the desire that we have within ourselves. Our awareness of the desire becomes an intention. Intention is energy that attracts experiences and opportunities that align with the desires of our inner world.

It sounds amazing right? It is. Itโ€™s powerful! One may read this and say, โ€˜My desires donโ€™t manifest.โ€™ Everything that we focus on manifests in some way. If youโ€™re focusing on how โ€˜itโ€™s always somethingโ€™ then that is the desire of your heart, therefore, it is always something.

Neville Goddard is known for his teaching on the law of attraction. The law of attraction is said to be a universal law. (I refer to these laws as natural laws because we โ€˜humansโ€™ do not know if these laws exist outside of Earth) This law says that our energetic vibrations attract experiences into our lives that correspond with our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.

Imagination isnโ€™t beneficial for kindergarteners alone, but for people of all ages. Your imagination is the bridge that connects your inner world with your outer world. Become a skilled deliberate thinker. Deliberately visualize your desires. Embody having your desires. It is suggested to vividly imagine you already have achieved your goals because the mind interprets all stimuli as being true.

People all over the world have sung the praises of deliberate thinking. Itโ€™s time to get off of autopilot and live your life! People have manifested career opportunities, fulfilling relationships, and peace of mind. Your power is in your consciousness. To be fully conscious means to be aware of your present moment. Not future moments, not past moments, but right here, right now.

One may wonder, how they are supposed to visualize their future, and live in the desired outcome if those moments are also in the future. Well, to answer that question, Iโ€™ll simply state that the difference is in the intention. Because the truth is, the statements are in fact a contradiction. When people are visualizing about horrid situations, or situations that bring them anxiety, theyโ€™re essentially aligning with an unfolding of reality that matches their stress sensors.

The same is true when people are visualizing things that they want from their desired outcome. When I say that there is power in being here in the present moment, what I mean is, when youโ€™re in the present moment, youโ€™re able to focus on your breath. Focusing on your breath, allows you to have a calm mind. && having a calm mind, is what provides you with the freedom of only hearing that voice in your head when itโ€™s actually constructive, useful, and beneficial.

Being in the present moment allows you to focus on situations that are in the future from a place of wisdom and creativity, as opposed from a place of worry and anxiety.

To bring it home, Iโ€™ll remind you of shadow work, or โ€˜doing the workโ€™ as they say in therapy. When we are looking back over our past, analyzing what went wrong, what we could have done better, or why we allowed a certain thing to happen. Itโ€™s being dissected through a lens with the intention of healing. Not thinking about the past because we want a good cry, and want to feel angry, sad, or defeated for the remainder of the day. The present moment gives us power, because weโ€™re actually able to operate from our conscious awareness, as opposed to running on autopilot. I hope this helps.

The way you speak about yourself and your life is important. The words you speak can reinforce crippling beliefs or affirm your desired outcome. The way you speak to yourself, and to others is a powerful tool. Consciously choose your words. Speak from a place of empowerment. Harness the power of your tongue.

Do you hear your voice in your head? Then you have an inner dialogue. Your inner dialogue is known as self-talk. They say that the majority of people have negative self-talk on repeat 24/7. INSANE! Literally. When people tell me they cannot control their thoughts I like to ask them if they can control the words that come out of their mouths. If youโ€™re someone who struggles with negative self-talk, take a look at this very raw, unfiltered blog post, where I go into detail of how deeply I once struggled with distorted and horrid self-talk. If I was able to overcome this, you can as well.

A constant flow of negative thoughts means you are not in the present moment. Period. When youโ€™re in the present moment you may very well only hear silence, until you deliberately choose to speak directly to yourself. Remember, we are telepathic beings at our core. We can feel the vibrations of others who are several feet away from us, sometimes miles away.

Remember the world we live in. Radio waves are broadcast throughout the world at rapid speeds. They not only penetrate your cellphone and TV, but they also penetrate through YOU! Your body can interpret. It can interpret the radio waves that travel through the sky. Those wild, crazy, annoying, angry, negative, lustful thoughts that you have, literally may not even be your own. This is why I encourage you to have a shield of protection around you. Iโ€™ve found that a great shield is simply being in the present moment.

When I was a Christian I learned how to put on a spiritual armor. The helmet of salvation is used to block thoughts that aren’t profitable from penetrating into your mind. The shield of faith is used to protect you from what’s false becuase you have EVIDENCE that what you once hoped for manifested into the phyical realm and you know what you desire can manifest again. The sword, the words you speak, can penetrate through time, space, and matter. I’m no longer a Chrisitan, but I still apply this spiritual armor to my life. It’s found in Ephesians 6:10-17 if you’re interested.

I found that my body would get angry at me if I was affirming something that I didnโ€™t believe. For example, I can recall reciting affirmations that were along the lines of, โ€œI am grateful to have the luxury of eating fresh organic locally grown produceโ€ but I was literally eating lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, and dates from the Dollar Tree- because thatโ€™s all I could afford. It would be a lovely bonus to get a box food box from Dare to Care. Itโ€™s so interesting looking back now, because I literally was โ€˜manifestingโ€™ being able to live a high raw vegan lifestyle, when I was living in poverty.

But I knew for a fact that I would be earning an income from my business one day and trusted in that. Because I had this trust, I was able to rephrase those affirmations, to something along the lines of, โ€œI am so grateful that I am in the process of building a system that afford me the luxury of being a high raw vegan.โ€ It wasnโ€™t that I completely abandoned my hope in being a high raw vegan, I just needed to meet my body halfway.

My body was able to recognize the lie that I was essentially telling myself. Now, had I not been aware of the power of awareness, I would have either stopped doing those affirmations entirely, or continued reciting affirmations that made me feel uncomfortable, angry even. Iโ€™m not saying be so realistic in your affirmations that you take on the identity of that which youโ€™re avoiding. Iโ€™m saying to listen to your body when youโ€™re reading your affirmations.

Iโ€™m a firm believer that sleep is paramount when it comes to affirmations. I assume that youโ€™ve heard that itโ€™s a wonderful idea to recite your affirmations before going to sleep, and after rising from sleep. Honestly, I agree. I feel like the day truly does begin during the evenings. That when we sleep, weโ€™re preparing for the day. Before sleep we โ€˜planโ€™ for what we want, and after rising we โ€˜affirmโ€™ that which we planned. But just because before and after sleep are said to be the best times to recite affirmations, doesnโ€™t mean that itโ€™s the only time you can recite them. Heck, I say read them as often as you can. Standing in line at the grocery store? Whip youโ€™re phone out and read a few. On your lunch break at work? Whip out your phone, or your journal and recite a few.

โ€I am happy.โ€ This just sounds so vague to me. Idk, maybe because Iโ€™m always asking myself why all the time. โ€œI am happy knowing that I have more control over my life than I previously thought.โ€ โ€I am beautiful.โ€™ Okay? But what if that affirmation was, โ€œI am beautiful inside and out.โ€ Or โ€œI have such a beautiful personality and that radiates through my beautiful smileโ€ && even if itโ€™s truly about being beautiful, what do you find beautiful about yourself? โ€œI have such soft, clear, hydrated skin.โ€ or โ€œMy hair is so healthy, hydrated, and my curls are extremely defined.โ€

So, one of the things that still trips me up, is this belief that I have that everything that has ever happened, or that ever could happen, is actually happening now. Itโ€™s a crazy notion, right? Every horrible thing that I could ever even fathom, is actually happening, right now? Just the same, every amazingly wonderful thing, and even the incredibly mundane things, are all happening right this very moment. This is exactly what I mean when I say that our aura becomes the building blocks of our reality.

Because essentially, weโ€™re just aligning with what we choose to happen. && because all consciousness is interconnected, the choices that they make can have an effect on us as well. One could go crazy thinking about things like this, which is why I personally have decided to only focus on the things that I actually want to see. && I focus on physical, as well as spiritual protection for myself and the people that I live.

I like to say that whatever it is that responds to our aura and allows our manifestations to come to be, is fully conscious itself. && it seems to me, well, I liken this โ€˜forceโ€™ to be like a man, or I suppose any human rather. But, specifically men, they thrive off of praise and constructive feedback. If you tell a man that you appreciate him doing a certain thing for you, oh best believe, heโ€™s going to continue doing it for you. Why? Because he knows you appreciate him for it. && men like to feel appreciated, donโ€™t we all? I think the same is true for this force that we interact with. It too, enjoys being appreciated.

For example, if you want to write an affirmation to stop procrastinating. A great option would be, โ€˜I enjoy completing my tasks in an organized and timely manner.โ€™ As opposed to saying something like, โ€˜I donโ€™t wait until the last minute to do things.โ€™ The better choice of words would be something that focuses on how you complete your tasks on time. Because thatโ€™s exactly what you want, right? Therefore, thatโ€™s exactly what you should speak. Get it? Got it! Good.

Another concept that Neville Goddard taught is living in the end. โ€œLiving in the endโ€ is holding a feeling of having your wish fulfilled. To do this, youโ€™ll need to embody your desired outcome as if it has already manifested in your reality. Essentially, it means becoming your best self. Living in the end allows your thoughts, emotions, and your actions to align with your desire.

Your subconscious mind acts on the emotions that you feel. This influences your external circumstances. You can accelerate the manifestation process by feeling joy, gratitude, and fulfillment.

You can live fully present in the moment and live in the end. This is done by knowing and assuming that which you desire has already manifested at some point in time, therefore making it yours already. This concept was easier for me to comprehend once I told myself that everything is happening right now.

Youโ€™ve heard of limiting beliefs. Especially if youโ€™ve watched a single video related to mindset. Itโ€™s a buzzword. By definition, a limiting belief is a thought or state of mind that you think is the absolute truth, and itโ€™s stopping you from doing certain things. Limiting beliefs can block the manifestations that you actually want. Resulting in a continuation of that which you do not want.

Limiting beliefs stem from social conditioning, past experiences, and can even be self-perceived. Neville Goddard encourages individuals to identify the limiting beliefs they have so they can overcome them. Actually, this is kind of crucial for tapping into your power. Overcoming limiting beliefs requires self-reflection. Questioning the validity of all that you know to be true. But reframing your beliefs in certain things is actually what empowers you.

  1. Journal: Write down the beliefs you currently have (that you know are false) on one side of the paper. Now, flip it over and write the exact opposite on the back. This exercise can be useful when it comes to creating your affirmations.
  2. Visualize: Imagine living with beliefs that empower you and set you up to win. I admit, sometimes this can bring up emotions of anger, maybe even fear. Itโ€™s incredibly frustrating to be able to envision yourself doing something that you desire and then opening your eyes and being hit in the face with the reality of your situation. But, those adverse emotions, are indications of what areas in your life need improvement. I didnโ€™t say this process was fun, or easy, but it becomes a habit, and most of all of what we do in our lives are habitual. Just keep that in mind.
  3. Affirmations: Recite your affirmations aloud and in your head repeatedly throughout the day.
  4. Reflection: Sit and think about past experiences that could have shaped your beliefs today and confirm the origin of the limiting belief.
  5. Seek Support: It could be a wonderful addition to your journey if you had a mentor, coach, or accountability partner during this time. Iโ€™m actually a suggestibility strategist and may be able to provide you with additional support if you feel that is something that you could benefit from.

People are accustomed to living their life on autopilot. Meaning, they are not living in the present moment. Therefore, their minds are all over the place. Theyโ€™re tossed to the side, and then back again, because they arenโ€™t grounded within themselves. Here are some simple ways to stay in the present moment.

Focus on your breath throughout the day this brings awareness to the present moment. Honestly, I find this process to be truly interesting. Thereโ€™s an immediate noticeable difference. You can, well, I can, literally feel a difference in my body, and in my brain, when I am deliberately focusing on the present moment. Am I the only one who finds it trippy? Thatโ€™s the best way I can explain it. Idk if any of you have even taken an edible before, but it actually reminds me of that moment of realization that itโ€™s finally kicking in. ๐Ÿ˜… I suppose thatโ€™s what people mean when they say theyโ€™re โ€˜high off of life.โ€™

Give your full attention to the speaker and their message. This is something that I began doing when I was at family gatherings. As opposed to just chit chatting, and having fun, I began actually taking in the entire scene of the moment. What was the person in front of me actually saying? How does the fluctuations of their voice sound? What does their eyes look like when theyโ€™re laughing? Now, I canโ€™t say that it helps me remember what they actually said weeks or months later. However, in that moment, Iโ€™m fully there with them. && I am aware that this moment, is essentially locked in time, forever.

Acknowledge and appreciate the blessings in your life.

Pay attention to the flavors, textures, and sensations while eating. Savor each bite. As I mentioned earlier, I was able to essentially manifest my high raw lifestyle a year before I ever had the finances to invest in my health- truly a luxury in this day of age. But I realized that I still was eating the way I did when I was working in a warehouse and only had 15 mins to eat.

It would take 5 minutes to walk to and from the break room, so 10 total, 5 additional minutes to go to the restroom, which of course, I used company time for that, and then it could take another 5 minutes to actually have access to a microwave to warm up your food, thatโ€™s if you were lucky enough to not have had your lunch stolen. I was eating so quickly that I wasnโ€™t able to properly chew my food, which leads to improper digestion, or improper absorption of nutrients.

Set aside time to examine your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. This one is important. Even if you arenโ€™t keeping a physical journal, simply taking a few minutes to consciously review your day can make a significant change in your life. Most importantly, when you ponder on your day, youโ€™re training your mind and your body to become more present throughout the day.

Personally, I like to wake up early to enjoy the quiet while the world sleeps. I blast solfeggio frequencies in my Bose headphones and recite my affirmations. This relaxes me. This is a way to remind myself of who I am and what I believe to be true. The vibrations from the tones humming through my body anchor me.

Some people do not believe in spiritual laws such as the law of attraction, or the power of being in the present moment. They say, โ€˜expressing your divine nature oversimplifies the complexities of life and ignores systemic factors.โ€™ Some people do not like the idea that individuals alone are responsible for the circumstances they have in life. && expressing your divine nature requires you to accept responsibility. Some people feel they are being blamed as the victim when told to take responsibility for their circumstances in life, but I personally do not view it this way. Itโ€™s actually what freed me from my victim mentality.

Some skeptics say the power of awareness and the power of the mind has no scientific validity or empirical evidence. They must not have seen the studies of people healing their spines with their minds to be able to walk again. Admittedly, there are some misconceptions and misapplications of spiritual concepts, which could lead to unrealistic expectations and disappointment. But, this is why itโ€™s best to be open, and honest with oneself, and most importantly to live in the moment.

I implore you to take the information youโ€™re learning and apply it to your life. Become the experiment. When you do this, youโ€™re able to live to tell the tale to others. As well as be an example for others. Each one has the ability to teach, inspire another one.
